5. What about bushes, shrubs, and hedges planted on top of a property line?

Some people plant hedges on a boundary line to separate their land from their neighbors’ land. Bushes or shrubs or hedges planted on top of a property line are usually treated the same way as trees planted on top of a property line. The general rule is that neither neighbor can destroy the hedge without the permission of the other neighbor. The law usually allows both neighbors to trim and maintain the hedge without getting the other neighbor’s permission, however.
